Friends Book Sale

Donations for the book sale are accepted throughout the year. All proceeds from the sale go toward programs and services at the library.

Landmark Keepsake Project

The Landmark Keepsake Project was an undertaking by the Friends of the Library as a way to commemorate the historic buildings and landmarks of the Junction City area.

The Civil War Memorial Arch, George Smith Library, C.L. Hoover Opera House, and more are presented in gold and royal blue ornaments that can be collected and displayed.

Proceeds from the Keepsake Project go toward the library and its programs.

Volunteer Program

The library needs its Friends, and the Friends need volunteers! If you would like to help with the Book Sale, Fiesta, or other Friends projects, please Become A Friend and check "Yes" to be contacted about volunteering. You could also join in on a Friends Board meeting for more information.

Who wants to be a Friend?

Public libraries rely on their Friends groups to:

  • Act as Library Ambassadors in their communities
  • Serve as library advocates before the governing bodies that pull the purse strings and pass the laws that affect libraries and library services
  • Extend the services the library provides through their fundraising and volunteer efforts

Why do I need to be a Library Friend?

  • The opportunity to participate beyond borrowing materials and attending programs
  • The opportunity to have a greater voice in the programs, collections and services the library provides
  • The opportunity to meet and get to know other readers and library supporters
  • The opportunity to take advantage of special member benefits, such as receipt of the Friends' newsletter and participation in the annual meeting.

The Friends Board usually meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:00p.m. in the Library meeting room. Dates may vary to avoid holidays and other conflicts. The board is not scheduled to meet in January.
